Vaera Journeys

Cuba September 2019

Cuba

Dates: September 12-17, 2019

Cuba is hypnotic - from the sultry, seductive streets of Old Havana, to the crystal-clear Caribbean waters, the music, art & dance literally pouring from the streets. It’s a country unlike any other, and one that sits almost preserved in time. Imagine yourself standing on the historic malecon as a parade of vintage, colorful 1950s American cars sweep by. Tuck into heavenly cuisine at one of the many local paladares - private restaurants created right in people’s homes, or sweat it out dancing salsa until the sun comes up. Cuba, and Havana in particular, is captivating, and we couldn’t be more excited to share the journey with you.

WHAT MAKES THIS JOURNEY UNIQUE?

Vaera Journeys has teamed up with Cultural Cuba, an expert in customized, bespoke Cuba travel. Cultural Cuba has been in business for nearly a decade creating highly customized luxury tours to Cuba. They have the knowledge and expertise to arrange a perfectly crafted trip that meets all the legal specifications when it comes to organizing Cuba travel. Founder David Lee, and our founder Meagan Drillinger, have been friends and colleagues for years now and are so excited to team up for this fantastic, one-of-a-kind mashup that is sure to be the start of a long-standing tradition.

MEET CUBAN ENTREPRENEURS

A very special part of this particular journey will be the opportunity for our traveling entrepreneurs to meet and connect with local Cuban women entrepreneurs. These women have started businesses, including everything from organic farms and graphic arts, to dance companies and restaurants. As part of traveling legally to Cuba from the United States, each itinerary must include daily cultural exchanges. What better way to do this than to meet, connect, and bond with women from Cuba who are cutting against the grain and forging out to take ownership of their businesses, and their lives.

Meet Our Speaker

Laura Hertz

Laura is the co-founder and CEO of Gifts for Good: an innovative, millennial-driven, and socially conscious startup whose mission is to disrupt the world of business gifting. As an agent of change for both large corporations and smaller companies alike, Gifts for Good’s digital platform is the only resource in the $90 billion corporate gifting industry that curates premium and purposeful gifts that give back. To date, Gifts for Good has bettered the lives of over 25,000 people in 19 states and 65 countries around the globe.

Laura snagged a coveted ‘dream job’ at one of the Big 4 accounting firms straight out of college. But working in a windowless office left her not only unfulfilled, but downright miserable. She decided to go back to school to USC to get her masters in Social Entrepreneurship, and subsequently found the world’s first retail site aimed at curating and selling high quality gifts that give back. As CEO, this 20-something is disrupting the world of corporate gifting, convincing companies all over the world to stop purchasing meaningless, mass-produced tokens and instead to give curated items that help charitable causes.
